Just found out how much cheaper dried beans are than canned

I was looking at my grocery receipt from yesterday and did the math. A bag of dried black beans costs $1.89 and makes about six cans worth. I always just grabbed the can for convenience. Anyone else have a cheap swap they didn't know about for a long time?

My pantry is a graveyard for half-used bags of lentils. Why do I always forget they exist until I'm staring at the cans?

Oh man this hits home. I once found a bag of red lentils BEHIND the oatmeal that had basically turned into a science project. The key is to put them in something see-through like your mom does, but then you have to actually LOOK at the jar. I still fail at that last part most days.

My mom stores her lentils in clear jars right at eye level.
