My mom's old way of making soup stretched a chicken for 4 meals
Back in the early 2000s, my mom would boil a whole chicken and use the meat for dinner, then make stock from the bones for two more soups that week. Now I see people buying pre-cut chicken parts and it costs triple for half the meals. Anyone else notice families used to get way more out of one ingredient 20 years ago?

Man, I had a buddy whose mom would roast a chicken on Sunday and then use every last scrap for sandwiches, tacos, and a pot of soup by Wednesday. He said they never bought a whole chicken for less than four meals until he moved out and saw his roommate throw away a half-eaten rotisserie bird. Somewhere along the line we forgot that bones and leftovers are still food.

Honestly, did you ever read that article about how food waste costs the average family like $1,500 a year? That chicken story is a perfect example of getting way more bang for your buck.
