My neighbor laughed when I said I could feed my family of 4 on $60 a week
Last month at the community garden, Karen told me I was "delusional" for trying to feed her kids on that budget. She said she spends $150 easy and her boys still complain. I just shrugged and showed her my meal plan - beans, rice, eggs in bulk from the coop, and frozen veggies I stock up on sale day. She went quiet when I pulled out a bag of 50 cent carrots from the farmer's market. Has anyone else had someone doubt your budget meals like that?

Man, it's wild how people forget that cooking from scratch and knowing where to shop is basically a lost art (like handwriting or something). It really shows how disconnected we've become from the actual cost of food, not the price tag on a box of snacks.

Totally agree with you @lily97. People act like cooking from scratch takes too much time, but you can throw together a simple stir fry in 15 minutes for pennies compared to takeout. Most folks just don't bother learning where their food really comes from or what it costs behind the scenes. It's like they think grocery store snacks are the baseline instead of real ingredients.
