Finally picked a monthly layout after 6 months of trying both

I couldn't decide between a vertical timeline and a horizontal week spread for my work bullet journal. Went with the vertical one last week and I actually filled in every single day for the first time ever. Anyone else struggle with picking a layout and stick with it or do you switch back and forth a lot?

Did you ever think about mixing both in one notebook? I used to switch between layouts every month until I started using a two page vertical timeline for weekdays and a simple list for weekends. Work stuff gets the timeline and personal stuff goes in the list. Been sticking with that for about 8 months now and it feels like I finally found something that actually fits how my brain works.

Three months into my vertical layout and I'm still shockingly consistent with it, but I have to say @cameron684 your mixing idea sounds smart for people who need both. My only nitpick would be that vertical timelines work best if you have less than six items per day, otherwise it gets cramped and messy quick. I tried a hybrid setup once where I put appointments on the left column and tasks on the right, but the columns were too narrow after about two weeks. Your two page thing probably solves that since you get more writing space on each side.
