Hot take: minimalist bujos miss the whole point of the system

I was talking with a friend who swears by strict Ryder Carroll style and she called my colorful habit trackers 'clutter.' But isn't the system supposed to adapt to what you need, not the other way around? Has anyone else dealt with gatekeeping over spreads?

Wait, do you actually think minimal spreads are closer to the "real" system? I was a strict black pen minimalist for like two years, hated color and stickers. But then my trackers started working way better when I made them fun and colorful, so now I think the gatekeeping is honestly pretty dumb.

Noticed this same thing with how people talk about running. Everyone acts like you gotta have the perfect form and be all serious about it, just pounding the pavement with nothing but your thoughts. But I started listening to audiobooks and podcasts on my runs and suddenly I was actually looking forward to it. Pretty sure the "real" version of anything is just what keeps you coming back to it. Why do we all fall for this idea that struggle equals authenticity?
