My coworker in accounting laughed at my spreads for 10 minutes before explaining why
So I was showing my weekly layout to Jake from accounting because he saw me drawing boxes and asked about it. He goes all quiet, squints at the page, and just starts cracking up. Turns out I was color coding every single task by what I thought was priority, but really I was just assigning colors based on how anxious each task made me feel. He pointed at my orange squares and said those are all things that have a hard deadline, and the blue ones are stuff I can push back. I had no clue I was doing that. Weird part is his method of reading it actually works better for me now. I flip to a new week, and before I write anything down I ask myself, is this a must do today thing or a can float thing. Do any of you ever notice your layouts accidentally reveal stuff about how you actually work, even when you dont plan it that way?
