My journal fell in the dish pit on a Friday rush and I stopped trusting pretty layouts for good
So I keep my journal in my apron at work, and a couple Fridays back during a full dinner rush at the restaurant I turned too fast by the dish pit and the whole thing went straight into a sink of gray water. Thirty pages of my monthly log, my habit tracker, everything, just soaked and smeared. I stood there for a second while tickets were printing and I had to make a call. I grabbed it, wiped it on a dry rag, and kept working because we had 14 steaks on the board and no time for feelings. That night I went home and instead of redoing the pretty spread, I just copied the important stuff onto a single index card, dates and tasks only, and taped it inside a cheap cover. Here's my hot take: if your journal can't survive getting wet or lost for a day, it's not a tool, it's a decoration. Two months in and the index card system has not failed me once. Anyone else ever had their bujo die a real world death and switch to something uglier but tougher?
