After 14 months of blocked posts, my regional paper finally ran my letter about local council meetings

I sent that letter 6 different times through their online form and once by fax in March, then out of nowhere last Friday it appeared in print with just one line changed, so has anyone else had a paper quietly fix their wording instead of just rejecting it?

You sent that letter seven times and they only changed one line? That's wild. Almost makes you wonder if they were just waiting for you to give up so they could quietly tweak it and pretend they published it on their own terms. They probably figured nobody would notice the difference, but you obviously did. What was the line they changed? I'm really curious if it was something small like a word swap or if they made your point sound softer. Makes me think they do that all the time, just slip in their own editing instead of admitting they don't want to print something straight.
