Deleted protest covers showed me censorship's reach
I used to think only big news faced censorship. When my music covers got taken down for 'unfit content', I saw how it hits creatives too. It changed my view on speaking up.

My cousin's knitting blog got flagged for 'inappropriate patterns' once. It was just a basic scarf design, but the auto-mod bot thought the yarn colors matched some banned symbol. Took her weeks to appeal, and she still feels nervous posting anything new now.

Wow, small artists have been dealing with this for ages though. It's not really new, it just feels new when it happens to you.

You're totally right about that @the_cameron. It's one of those things that's always been happening in the background, but most people never notice until it blows up. The smaller you are, the harder it is to get anyone to pay attention when your work gets taken. It just gets lost in the noise. There's a real loneliness to having your stuff used without credit and watching bigger accounts get all the sympathy for the same problem. Makes the whole support system feel kind of broken, you know?
