Got a 14 day ban from a history sub for correcting a mistranslation

I pointed out that a translated 18th century letter about trade routes used the wrong word for 'tariff' and the mods said I was 'disrupting the narrative.' The original French source clearly said 'droit de passage' not 'taxe.' Has anyone else run into mods protecting a flawed translation just because it fits their preferred story?
