Got a cease and desist letter last Tuesday for reposting a news article

It was from a local politician here in Houston who didn't like that I shared a report about his 2019 campaign finance issues. The letter claimed copyright violation but it was a public record from the county clerk's office. I'm just a guy with a blog, not a news outlet. Has anyone else dealt with fake copyright threats just for sharing public info?

Skeptical it's worth worrying about unless a real court gets involved.

Right, because @henry_palmer24 the only courts that matter are the ones where the judge still uses a flip phone (bless their hearts).

Wait, are you telling me there are actual judges out there who still use flip phones in 2024? That's either the most secure thing I've ever heard or the most terrifying, no in between. Honestly I'd trust a flip phone judge more than one who's gotten tangled up in some smart court app that glitches out halfway through a hearing.
