I used to think shadowbans were a myth until my art account at 12k followers lost 90% of its reach in Milwaukee
I had to pick between staying quiet and posting my comic about a local landlord on both my main and my backup, and I picked posting it anyway. Two days later the backup got hit with a 'community guidelines' notice with no link to which rule, so now I'm wondering if anyone here has successfully appealed one of those vague bans.
A buddy of mine runs a small zine page and got one of those blank "community guidelines" notices after he posted a flyer about a tenants meeting. No rule listed, just a button that said appeal. He filled it out, waited nine days, and got a robot reply saying the decision stands with no other info. He tried again, same thing, so he basically gave up and moved his stuff to a newsletter. Last I heard the page is still up but every post gets maybe a tenth of the views it used to. The part that gets me is the timing, he posted the flyer and got flagged within a day, so it sure looks tied to what he posted and not some random sweep. If yours was about a landlord too, I would screenshot everything and keep the appeal short and plain, but dont count on a real person reading it because mine never got one.
