Rant: my library pulled a book off the shelf over one parent complaint, and nobody else showed up but me
Last month the Fairview branch in my town yanked a graphic novel about puberty after exactly one parent emailed the board, no vote, no notice, just gone from the shelf. I sat through a 2 hour board meeting on a Tuesday where the only people who spoke were me and the mom who wanted it gone, so of course they kept it off. Here is the part people get wrong, we keep saying they are banning books but they are really just waiting us out because nobody shows up to the boring meetings. If nobody pushes back at the local level, who exactly is supposed to stop this?

Fairview's board meets every second Tuesday and one email beat two hours of public comment.
