The day my landlord censored my statement board in the lobby...

I live in a building in Austin with a community board where tenants can post little notes. Last week I put up a sign that just said 'ask your neighbors about the rent hike meeting on Thursday'. The property manager ripped it down within 2 hours... said it was 'inciting unrest'. I was honestly shocked, I thought that board was for everyone. Has anyone else had a landlord or HOA shut down something as simple as a meeting announcement?

Different take, the landlord owns the board so they make the rules whether we like it or not.

See it this way. The landlord owns the board, sure, but that board is ours to mess up. I pay rent every month and I got a say in how my money gets spent. If the landlord makes bad rules, we all suffer. I've seen enough parking lot fights and trash pileups to know that ignoring us doesn't work. We can push back with complaints and by sticking together. So yeah, the landlord holds the cards, but we pay their bills. That gives us some power if we use it right.
