Thought a copyright strike on my drone video was a joke, then YouTube killed my whole channel for 3 weeks
Six months ago I got a strike on a 12 second clip of a sunset over a lake in Vermont. I figured it was a scam and ignored it because the song was just wind and birds. My channel got locked on a Monday morning and stayed dark for 21 days while I fought it. Turned out some company in Nashville claimed the ambient audio was theirs because their mic picked up similar wind on a demo tape. I sent them the raw file with GPS data from my drone and they dropped it in 4 hours after ignoring me for two weeks. What finally worked was emailing their legal guy directly instead of the claim form. Has anyone else gotten a strike reversed by bugging the other side instead of waiting on the platform?
