Two years of my library's pride display getting quietly pulled each June, so this year I filed the request forms myself
Instead of just complaining to the branch manager again, I filed a formal materials reconsideration request for every single title they kept removing, 14 books total, all on the record. The director called me in person, admitted the display kept getting taken down by one staffer with no paperwork, and now every removal has to go through a written review. Has anyone else tried the boring paper trail route instead of public pushback?
14 books is a lot to file one by one, so I'm curious how long that whole process took you from the first form to the director actually calling. And did you have to cite specific reasons for each title, like reviews or award lists, or could you just say "this belongs in the collection" and leave it at that? The part I really want to know is what happens now when that staffer tries to pull something next June, does the written review actually have teeth or is it just a form they fill out and rubber stamp? Because a paper trail only works if someone is actually reading the paper, you know?
