Update: someone at the Iowa State Fair said one sentence to me and it's been stuck in my head for 3 weeks
I was standing in line for a pork chop on a stick at the Iowa State Fair back in August when two guys next to me started talking about a YouTube video that got pulled down. One of them said, word for word, "the worst part is they won't even tell you which rule you broke." That line kind of hit me because I've been on the wrong end of that exact thing twice now. About a year ago a comment I left on a local news page got hidden, and when I asked why, I got a canned reply that didn't say anything about the actual comment. Same deal on a hobby forum where a mod removed a post of mine and just wrote "not allowed here." No warning, no link to a rule, nothing. I'm not saying every removal is wrong, but when nobody tells you what you did, you can't learn or push back, and that silence does more to shut people up than a ban ever could. Has anyone here actually gotten a straight answer from a platform after something of theirs got taken down, or is it always the same runaround?
Had a similar thing happen on a fishing forum years back where a mod deleted my post about a local creek and just said "read the rules." I spent an hour rereading them and still couldn't figure out which one I broke. Kind of gave up posting there after that, which is probably exactly what they wanted.
