20 years of diving and I just realized I was holding my knife wrong

Was watching a younger guy suit up and noticed he had his knife strapped to his calf, not his thigh. Told me it's for reaching across your body easier when tangled. Tried it on a bridge inspection job last Tuesday and it made more sense than anything I've done in two decades. Anyone else pick up a basic habit that late?

Guess some of us are slow learners in the underwater ninja department...

The diving reflex thing is actually a real thing though - it's not about being a slow learner. Your body naturally slows your heart rate when you hit cold water, it's a mammalian response. I mean some studies say it drops by like 10-20 percent. So maybe you're just more evolved than the rest of us, idk.
