Dropped $1,300 on a Kirby Morgan knockoff helmet and it passed hydro but the port threads stripped on dive 3 in Morgan City
Anyone else get burned trying to save a buck on their hat, or did I just get the one bad casting?

Man, that brings back memories. Bought a used hat off a guy in Gulfport back in 09, saved about eight hundred bucks. Looked fine on the outside, threads felt tight when I checked em by hand. First real dive past a hundred feet the whole thing started weeping around the port. Turns out the threads were cross cut from day one, just wore down fast under pressure. Some deals cost you way more than the money you saved.
