Hot take: a deckhand on the Gulf asked why I still hand-torque my hatches when the spec book says otherwise
He was 22 and had a point, but I told him about a job off Galveston where a torque wrench read 110 ft-lbs and the joint still wept at 40 feet, so now I want to know if anyone else has a piece of gear they just can't bring themselves to trust the specs on.
