Hot take: I think the old way of doing hull inspections with just a mask and a light is better than using a GoPro on a pole.

I used to do all my visual checks up close for 15 years, but my new company in Tampa makes us use the camera rig to save time. Has anyone else switched back after trying it?

Totally agree. Hands-on always felt more sure to me. The camera misses stuff.

Notice it everywhere now, like with GPS. It gets you close but you still have to look at the street signs to really know where you are. We're trusting screens over our own eyes and hands way too much. Feels like we're losing the basic skill of just paying attention to the real world.
