I swore the dive light lanyard was a waste of time, then Lost my Primary in 4 feet of water
Last month on a pier job in Gulfport I fumbled my primary light right off the edge and spent 45 minutes pawing through silt in 4 feet of water hunting for it. I used to make fun of guys who clipped a $6 lanyard to their light, thought it was rookie stuff. But after that mess, and a second scare two weeks later when my backup popped off my harness in the dark, I bought two coiled lanyards the next day. Now I clip both lights off before I even get wet. Any of you run lanyards on your gauges too, or is that overkill?
Man I felt this in my soul. Dropped my backup in like 6 feet of murky water on a night dive and spent way too long crawling around feeling like an idiot while my buddy just watched. Coiled lanyard on both lights ever since and yeah I even put a short one on my gauge console now, cheap insurance.
