Man that Port Arthur weather can be wild. I remember driving through there a couple years back and the fog was so thick you could barely see the refinery flares. Pulled over at that gas station near the old museum and this old timer told me he saw the Northern Lights there once back in the 80s. I still think about that story sometimes when I'm stuck in Houston traffic.

Totally get what you mean, @ericfox. Wasn't that fog just unreal sometimes? I had a night like that coming back from the coast, where the flares looked like blurry orange ghosts. Makes you drive about ten miles an hour. That's a wild story about the Northern Lights, I never would have thought you could see them down here. Makes you wonder what else we miss while we're just trying to get down the road.
