That tip from an old saturation diver about keeping a spare reg in your bag saved my butt last week
Guy named Sully on a Gulf job told me to always carry a backup second stage in my dry bag, and I thought he was being paranoid. Had my primary freeflow at 90 feet off Louisiana and swapping over took maybe 10 seconds vs a full abort. Anyone else keep extra gear stashed?

Every time I forget a backup of something I end up needing it within the hour.

Yeah I used to have a totally different take on backups, I thought it was overkill and just a waste of time honestly. But then I lost a whole folder of photos from a road trip because I forgot to save them to the cloud before my phone died. Now I literally set a recurring alarm on my phone to remind myself every Sunday night to sync everything, drives my girlfriend crazy but I don't care. Your line about needing it within the hour is too real for me, I swear the universe knows when I skipped a backup and makes sure that file gets corrupted.

It's funny how "the universe knows when I skipped a backup" hits so hard because it's true for so many things. I've noticed that same pattern with other stuff too, like when I skip checking my oil for too long and suddenly my car starts making that horrible noise on the highway. It's like reality waits for the worst possible moment to punish you for being lazy. Maybe that's just how life keeps us honest, or maybe we're all just super unlucky at the same time.
