Blew a fuel line on I-35 outside Austin last Tuesday

I was hauling a load of gravel down I-35 outside Austin when I heard a loud pop and lost all power. Pulled over on the shoulder and found a fuel line had split right at the fitting. Took me about 45 minutes to patch it with a spare hose clamp and some rubber tubing I keep in my toolbox. Got it running again but limped to a shop in Round Rock for a proper fix. Cost me $180 for the new line and labor, plus I lost half a day of work. Anyone else carry backup fuel line parts for emergencies on the road?

Yeah, I keep a few feet of rubber fuel line and extra clamps under the seat now. Learned that lesson the hard way too.

Wait, you actually had spare rubber tubing in your truck? That's more prepared than me. I carry a roll of duct tape and a prayer. Last time I had a fuel issue I just sat there staring at the leak like it would fix itself. Took me two hours and a tow truck to figure out I should've just kept a basic hose clamp kit handy. Glad you got it patched though.
