DIY CP4 pump replacement took me 16 hours instead of the 4 I budgeted

Thought I could swap out the failed CP4 on my '11 Super Duty in an afternoon but ended up flushing the entire fuel system three times because I missed a speck of metal in the rail lines - has anyone else gotten stuck cleaning out debris way longer than the pump swap itself?

16 HOURS? For a CP4 swap? That's wild. No way I'd have the patience for a third flush, I would have just chunked the whole truck at that point. The fact that one tiny piece of metal can turn a simple job into a full weekend nightmare is honestly terrifying. Makes me want to keep my old 7.3 forever just so I never have to deal with that fuel system again. You've got way more patience than me, after the second flush I'd probably just be sitting in the driveway crying.

Man that is rough. I mean I get the frustration though, after that many flushes I'd be questioning every life choice that got me there. Props to you for sticking with it, I don't think I'd have that kind of patience either.
