First injector swap without a manual paid off in 6 months

Finally did my first injector replacement on my 7.3 at 280k miles, just going off torque specs I found on a forum. Took about 4 hours one Saturday, way slower than the videos but I pulled the valve covers carefully and labeled every connector. Six months later I've put 12k miles on it and the fuel economy is up from 13 to 15.5 mpg, plus the cold start knock is totally gone. Has anyone else gotten away with skipping the factory procedure on these older Powerstrokes, or did I just get lucky?

Wait, you used anti-seize on the injector threads or nah?

Guessing you're asking because you've seen the whole debate blow up before. Personally, I always skip it on injectors, just a light coat of clean oil on the threads and torque them dry. Seems like every forum has that one guy who swears by copper anti-seize, and then another guy who posts a picture of a cracked head. It's like the oil change argument, everyone's got a "fact" they heard from their uncle's cousin, but nobody can agree. Take my advice with a grain of salt, I've only done this on a handful of diesels, not a thousand of them.
