Had a injector cup crack on a CAT C15 in the middle of a cornfield near Decatur last harvest
Was running a combine for a buddy when it started knocking real bad around 3pm on a Saturday. Tore into it at the field edge and found the cup cracked clean through, dumping fuel into the coolant. No shop nearby so I used a puller kit I had in my truck and swapped it with a spare cup I keep around for emergencies (guy I learned from always said bring extras, guess he was right). Got it back together by dark and she ran smooth. You all carry any weird spare parts for field repairs or am I just paranoid?

Man that brings back a memory of my buddy Dan out by Shelbyville. He had a old 8.3 Cummins start spewing oil from the front seal during wheat harvest one year. He didnt have a spare seal but he did have a roll of duct tape and a inner tube. He cut a strip off the tube, wrapped it around the crank, and held it in place with the tape just to finish the field. Told me it leaked slower than before haha. I carry a spare water pump and a bag of misc o-rings now just from watching him McGyver stuff. Youre not paranoid at all, its just experience talking.
