My uncle swore you could diagnose a bad injector on a 7.3 Powerstroke just by listening with a long screwdriver. I finally tried it on a 2002 F-250 last week and pinpointed the faulty one in under ten minutes. Anyone got a better trick for those HEUI systems?
He said 'put the tip on the injector body and your ear on the handle, the quiet one is the dead one.' Saved me pulling the valve covers for nothing.

Remember that trick with a glass of water on the engine block? My dad used to do that on old farm tractors to find a dead cylinder. You'd watch the ripples get weird. Seems like every old diesel has some weird low-tech fix like that.
