Question about the old timer in Lubbock who told me to stop using a torque wrench on drain plugs
He said at his shop in Lubbock they just snug them by feel and he has never had one back out, but I have seen three stripped pans this month alone. Is he right that we overthink it, or is he just lucky?
Just snug them by feel" works when your feel is calibrated from doing it for 30 years lol. I used to roll my eyes at the old guys saying this but then I watched a tech absolutely smoke a pan with a torque wrench set way too high, and now I get it. The wrench aint the problem, its people trusting it over common sense.
