Vent: Bought a cheap aftermarket DPF filter for a Duramax, huge mistake

Spent about $350, half the OEM price. It clogged solid in under 3 months, threw constant regen codes. Had to buy the proper one anyway and eat the labor cost. Anyone know a decent mid-price brand that actually holds up?

Was it a full delete or just a cheap filter? Those cheap ones are basically empty cans, no substrate inside. You need the actual ceramic honeycomb to catch soot. Look for a brand that lists the cell density, like 200 cpsi. That's the real part.

Damn, @shanewells I hate to admit it but I was one of those guys who thought a filter's a filter. You just changed my mind on that. Explains why that one I grabbed off Amazon ran like crap after a month.

Shane's right about the cell density. I'd also check if it's a coated filter, that helps with the regen process. Some of the mid-range brands like Walker or Bosal are usually a safe bet.
