Warning: My uncle told me to always double-check the torque on injector hold-downs.

He said, 'They'll walk out on you if you don't.' I was rushing a job on a 6.0 Powerstroke last Thursday and skipped the final check. Two days later, the customer was back with a nasty fuel leak. Had to pull the valve cover again and redo it all. Anyone else have a simple step they've learned never to skip?

My old shop foreman swore by a single pass to spec, never had one come back loose.

That final torque check is huge for injector hold-downs, but the sequence matters just as much. Always go in a star pattern and do multiple passes, not just a single crank to spec. It keeps the clamp load even so the injector can't rock and work loose over time.

My old 6.0 taught me that star pattern the hard way.
