Between tenant insurance and lawyer fees, I picked wrong

I skimped on tenant insurance last year to save $25 a month, then my basement flooded and the landlord's lawyer hit me with a $4,200 bill for damages. Anyone else had to choose between coverage and legal costs when renting in Edmonton?

I learned that one the hard way too, insurance is worth it.

Read a study the other day about how most people who skip insurance end up regretting it within the first year. @skylercooper you nailed it, insurance is one of those things you don't think you need until you really do. I had a buddy who thought he was saving money by going without, then his dog got hit by a car and the vet bill was insane. Now he preaches about insurance to anyone who'll listen.
