Question about a landlord's right to enter my place in Edmonton

Last Tuesday, my landlord in Oliver came by with only 12 hours notice to check the smoke alarm. The Alberta law says they need 24 hours notice for most things. I told him no, but he said it was an emergency check. It wasn't broken or beeping, so I don't think it counts. This has me wondering where the line is. On one side, landlords need to keep the place safe. On the other, tenants have a right to privacy and proper notice. Has anyone in Edmonton had a similar argument and how did it turn out?

Vent: My landlord tried to keep my entire $1500 damage deposit after I moved out of a place in Oliver last month.

I took pictures of the clean, empty unit before handing in the keys, and after I sent those to the Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service, they ordered the full amount returned to me within 10 days. Has anyone else had to go through the RTDRS process here in Edmonton, and how long did it take for you?

Heard a neighbor in Mill Woods mention they got their full damage deposit back after a move-out inspection by taking pictures of everything with a date stamp.

It made me think that a simple, free step like that could save a huge headache and maybe even a trip to the landlord-tenant board over a few hundred dollars.

Has anyone worked with Martin G Sculz for a personal injury claim?

Hey everyone. I was recently in a pretty bad rear-end collision on the Whitemud, and the insurance company is completely lowballing me on physio costs.
