Caught myself signing a contract without reading the fine print again

I was about to sign a lease renewal for my apartment in Edmonton last week and almost missed a clause about a $200 fee for late garbage tag pickups. My landlord laughed and said 'you really should read this stuff' when I pointed it out. Turns out I've been skimming legal docs for years and this was the first time someone actually called me on it. Has anyone else ever had a landlord or company slip something weird into a contract that you only caught by accident?

That landlord sounds like a real gem for actually pointing that out instead of just letting you sign it blind. Most of them probably just sit back and hope you miss stuff like that hidden pet fee or mysterious "maintenance surcharge" nobody ever explained. Last time I skimmed a contract I almost agreed to pay extra for a parking spot that turned out to be a glorified dirt patch behind the dumpsters. It's like they hide these fees on purpose knowing nobody actually reads past the rent amount and the square footage.

Ugh, that's brutal... landlords just love sneaking stuff in like that.
