Just found out my landlord owes me over $300 for not fixing my heat last winter

I was going through my old texts and bills from the cold snap in January, and I counted the days my apartment was under 16 degrees. It was 11 days total. I looked up the rules for Edmonton, and there's a thing called rent abatement for when a place isn't fit to live in. I did the math, and for my rent, that works out to about $340 they should give back. I mean, I just thought I had to put up with it, but I guess not. Has anyone in Edmonton actually gotten money back from their landlord for something like this?

Landlords love to act like the cold builds character. Ngl, getting that money back sounds like a full time job with worse pay. Good luck getting blood from that stone.

Oh yeah, I got about $400 back after my heat went out for a week last February, totally worth the hassle.

Yeah, I got a rent abatement once by filing with the RTDRS.
