The one change to my neighbor's fence line saved me a 3-month boundary dispute

I watched my neighbor put up a new fence 6 inches over the property line and didn't say anything for 2 years. When I finally checked Edmonton's land titles registry it cost me $60 and showed the original survey pins were still there. Has anyone else dealt with adverse possession claims over something like a garden shed?

Ngl, people just don't check these things early enough. Everyone assumes their neighbor is being honest about property lines but a $60 records search could save you months of headaches.

Depends on who you ask though. Some folks get along fine with a handshake and a friendly chat over the fence, and that $60 search might just stir up trouble where there wasn't any.
