Update on my landlord trying to keep my damage deposit for 'cleaning' in my old Oliver apartment

I found out that sending a formal demand letter through the Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service website, which cost me $75 to file, got my full $1200 deposit back within two weeks when my landlord had been ignoring my calls for a month.

Hell yeah, that's the move. The official paperwork always gets them moving.

I get why you say that, but official paperwork can actually slow things down sometimes. I've seen it make people defensive and less willing to help. A direct, polite conversation often gets better results for me.
