Wasted $400 on a traffic ticket lawyer who did nothing

Honestly, I got a speeding ticket on the Henday back in March and panicked. Hired a lawyer for $400 who said they'd get it reduced to no demerits. They just filed a plea by mail without even talking to me first. I still got the same fine and demerits. Anyone else feel like these ticket lawyers just cash the check and move on?
