DAE cut corners on vetting new people? My haste caused a huge mess.
A single bad pick stalled my whole operation... now I take my sweet time with every applicant.

Slow vetting just means you miss out on good people who won't wait around. You can be careful without grinding everything to a halt. Find a middle ground or you'll be stuck with the leftovers.

Used to believe thorough vetting was worth any wait, but olivers28 is right about the middle ground. We had a perfect fit slip away last quarter because our process took six weeks. Now we aim for three weeks max and give candidates a clear schedule upfront.

Exactly, we lost a great candidate last month because our hiring process took five weeks. By the time we sent the offer, they'd already accepted somewhere else. You need to set clear timelines and stick to them. Tell people upfront it'll be two weeks, not "a few weeks." Speed up the steps you can control, like scheduling interviews back-to-back. If you drag it out, you're only hiring the people who have no other options.
