Just saw my email list hit 1,000 subscribers after sending that one free guide for 3 months

I was so focused on sales calls I didn't realize the free content was quietly building the asset that actually matters.

Isn't it funny how the thing you're not watching often grows the fastest? You build the real value almost by accident while you're focused on the immediate deal. The backstage work usually pays the bills later.

Tell me about it, my side project from two years ago makes more than my actual job now. Spent all my energy on the "main thing" while this random idea just grew in the background. It's like the universe rewards you for ignoring stuff. Classic case of the tail wagging the dog, but hey, I'll take the check.

Read something once about "passive attention" being a real thing... like the best ideas grow when you're not staring at them. Totally fits what ryan719 said about backstage work paying off later. Makes you wonder if we should all just start more side things and forget about them... but then nothing would ever get done. Still, getting a check from a forgotten project sounds like the dream.
