My gourmet hot dog truck got ambushed by seagulls on day one
I mean, I spent months saving up for this food truck idea, right? Selling fancy hot dogs with weird toppings. Booked a spot at this big beach festival for the launch. So I set up all nice, got my first batch cooking, and out of nowhere, a bunch of seagulls comes down. They're snatching buns, knocking over my relish tray, it was pure chaos. I'm trying to shoo them away while customers are lining up, laughing their heads off. Ended up having to serve some dogs on napkins because the buns were gone. But idk, people loved the story, took pics, and it kinda blew up online. Maybe it's just me, but now I tell new food biz owners to always expect the weirdest stuff and roll with it.

Keep your buns in sealed containers until the last second. A loud whistle scares them off better than waving your arms.

Keep a cheap spray bottle filled with water near the grill, seagulls hate it. Always have backups for buns and keep condiment trays covered until the second a customer needs them.

That spray bottle trick sounds way easier than chasing them off. Does it actually stop them from coming back, or do they just circle around for a minute? Thomas291 mentioned a loud whistle too, but I'd worry about annoying the customers more than the birds. Gotta find that balance between keeping food safe and not making everyone jump.
