My whole client list almost got deleted because of a bad backup

I mean, it was Tuesday morning and I went to update my customer spreadsheet, which I keep in a simple file. I accidentally hit delete instead of save, and the file just vanished. I tried to get it back from my cloud backup, but the last backup was from two weeks ago, so I would have lost a ton of new leads. I spent the next four hours manually rebuilding it from old emails and texts. Has anyone else had a close call like this and found a better way to handle backups automatically?

Honestly, what are you using for your cloud backup?

Oh man, I just switched to Backblaze last year after my old service messed up a big restore. It's been totally solid so far, and the price is way less painful. I used to get so stressed about whether my files were actually safe, you know? Now it just runs in the background and I forget about it, which is the whole point.

Wow, okay that sounds stressful but I gotta ask - was it really that bad? I mean you rebuilt it in four hours from old emails and texts, so the data was still there somewhere. People act like losing a spreadsheet is a total disaster but honestly I've lost way more important stuff and just moved on. You probably even caught some mistakes in your old data while you were rebuilding it, right? Backups are nice but manually rebuilding sometimes forces you to clean up junk you didn't need anyway.
