Warning: My email open rate went from 12% to 48% after I stopped using my company name in the subject line

For about six months, I was starting every subject line with 'Ross Construction says...' because I thought it looked professional (you know, building the brand). My open rate was stuck at 12% on Mailchimp. Last month, I switched to just asking a direct question about the client's project, like 'Need a quote for that deck?'. It jumped to 48% in three weeks. Has anyone else seen a huge shift just from dropping the formal intro?

Totally makes sense! I always ignore those branded subject lines in my own inbox. Feels like an ad before I even open it.

Exactly, it feels like an ad. I just use plain text subject lines now. Something like "Question about your order" or "Following up on Tuesday." Open rates went way up when I stopped trying to be clever or use the company name. People just skip over anything that looks like mass marketing.
