Told my neighbor his Roomba would wreck my rug, but I was dead wrong about the whole thing

He insisted his cheap Eufy model would be fine on my shag rug after I warned him about it last month, and now I have to admit it actually handled the fibers better than my $600 iRobot ever did and I'm honestly annoyed. Has anyone else had a random budget model outperform their expensive one on specific flooring?

Got the exact same thing happen to me with my parents house. They have this cheap off brand Roomba they got at a flea market for 40 bucks and that thing eats their thick shag like a champ. Meanwhile my Shark that cost me over 400 gets stuck on my medium pile every single time and throws error 26 like clockwork. I think the budget ones are just designed different, maybe they're simpler so they have less to go wrong. The expensive ones have all these sensors and mapping stuff that just makes them overthink everything.

Buddy of mine bought a used Roomba 600 series off Facebook for like 30 bucks. Thing looks beat to hell, stickers peeling off. But it runs his whole house every day for three years now. No errors. No LiDAR. No app nonsense. It just bumps into stuff and turns around. Meanwhile his fancy new Eufy he got as a gift couldn't even finish one room without saying it was lost.
